PLAY MUSIC Class

Play_3_2017-7005(2).jpg

PLAY MUSIC CLASS

PLAY music is a parent-and-child, mixed-age, music and movement program for kids from babyhood through preschool (6 months through 4 years).

Play_3_2017-7005(2).jpg

Suggested Ages: 6 months to 4 years.

About PLAY music: PLAY music is a mixed-age, parent-and-child, music-and-movement curriculum for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and their families. Their weekly, session-based classes include small and large movement activities, use of props and percussion instruments, musical stories, chants, tonal and rhythm patterns, and a lot of singing.

Parent participation is key to all of this, and the program’s main objective is to send families home with fun and age-appropriate activities that they can enjoy together throughout the week. Each enrolled family gets a set of downloadable recordings (corresponding to the current session) and web-based family materials, which include sheet music, lyrics, movement guides, and ideas for activities to do at home.

The classes feature original and traditional material (all arranged and recorded by PLAY music), including American folk songs, songs from other cultures and in languages other than English, and songs that encourage children’s innate curiosity about the natural world.

Looking to current research on music and the brain, and developmentally appropriate practice, PLAY music strives to expose children to basic tonal vocabulary; to foster steady beat ability, which is fundamental to music, dance, and sports, and may also benefit self regulation and acquisition of vocabulary later on; and to bring the joy of music into the home as a whole-family activity.

Date/Times: Sunday mornings, 9:30am-10:15am from February 24th through March 24th (5 weeks)

Cost: $120 for the 5-week series

Registration is at the PLAY Music site.

This is a hands-on course: you'll get to practice important skills in CPR and first aid that you may need someday.  Whatever the situation may be, Resuscitation Basics' goal is to prepare parents with the appropriate skills so you can take action when needed.

Do you have specific questions on particular first aid topics (especially for children)?  Bring them to the class; you'll have the chance to ask your instructor.

for Beginners.

March 7th every Thursday from 7pm- 8pm

$16 for drop in class |6 class pass $96

Advanced registration required.

With a deep, welcoming inhalation and a calm, surrendering exhalation, come and join PlayLab’s Yoga Basics for beginners. Join together to share and receive all existing knowledge from one another and ground all new coming thoughts and energy.

Class Guideline:

● A brief chant and meditation to begin the class, followed by calm, cooling breath work.

● Body warm-up! A traditional Sun Salutation A to get our body flowing. This Sun Salutation will be repeated 5x to activate our body heat that way our muscles are more accessible to make some free movement.

● Once we’ve gotten the hang of the flow, we will move into shoulder, hip and hamstring opening stretches to loosen up those tight muscles from being at work all day (or not! Still worth the stretch!).

● Towards the last 10 minutes of the class, abdominal exercises will take place during this time. Gotta keep those babies happy and toned!

● Last but definitely not least, Svasana. A deep, grounding meditation lying completely flat on your mat to end our practice.

Several mats will be provided. Please feel free to bring your personal mats and water.

P.S. During the class, hands-on assists will be given by the instructor unless requested hands-off
